Methods
The first stage in the project methodology entailed constructing the existing heathland layer. The potential heathland polygons on which to run the model were then mapped using the ‘foundation criteria’. The environmental and social scoring systems were applied to these polygons to produce two separate scores for each polygon and these provide the basis for the outputs.
