The Local Network Fund








Please note that the deadline for receipt of Local Network Fund grant applications has passed. We will update this site as soon as new funding becomes available. In the meantime please refer to our funding guide or to your local CVS for advice on funding for groups working with children and young people.

What it does: The Local Network Fund gives grants of up to £7,000 to enable local voluntary groups to develop projects and activities for young people who have limited opportunities or access to services.


Who can the Local Network Fund help? Grants can be made to locally managed voluntary and community groups working with young people aged 0 – 19 years (up to 25 for those with learning disabilities).

ASCO Netball
ASCO received a grant for £5000 from the Local Network Fund in 2006. They used it to pay for:
  • Professional coaching for a summer school
  • A specialist dietician for nutrition teaching
  • Volunteer coach training
  • Netball and multi-skills training equipment
  • Premises hire
  • Trips to matches including England international

What kind of activity can be funded? Activities must fit one of the five outcomes below:
  • Being healthy.
  • Staying safe.
  • Enjoying and achieving.
  • Making a positive contribution.
  • Achieving economic wellbeing.

What cannot be funded?
  • Individuals.
  • Statutory organisations (such as schools).
  • Trips abroad.
  • Activities helping only one child or family.
  • Groups based outside Hertfordshire.
  • Groups with a turnover of more than £100,000.
  • Projects for personal profit.
  • Activities where the primary purpose is to promote political or religious beliefs.
  • Organisations that already hold a Local Network Fund grant.
  • Grant making bodies.

How much can you apply for? Grants range from £250 to £7,000 for projects which last for up to one year. All projects must be completed by January 2008.
