Developing creative activities for older people
Shadow puppets in the Out of the Box projectThis project aims to develop new ways of delivering creative activities in residential care homes, and in other settings such as day centres.

In July 2005, Norfolk County Council hosted Home is where the start is - a conference for care home managers that looked at ‘providing activity for a better life’. Although it was clear from the conference that reminiscence-based work already takes place in many Norfolk care homes, two workshops led by the Norfolk Arts Partnership confirmed that managers would welcome more arts-based activity.

This project responds to the issues raised at the two conference workshops, particularly by managers in the private sector. These included pressure on staff time, scarce funding for activities in general and, in many homes, a lack of suitable space.

If our fundraising target for this work is met, this Creative Change project will begin in the autumn of 2006.
