Inspiration: A creative approach to mental well-being
Inspiration: a creative approach to mental well-beingNorfolk Arts Partnership is offering weekly sessions in Dereham, aimed at men who are concerned about depression, anxiety or stress. Participants will have the opportunity to try their hand at animation, writing and visual art techniques, working with friendly and experienced artists. It is quite alright to drop into a single session now and again or to attend regularly. Similar sessions in Swaffham have already shown how art may help with a sense of well-being, leading to an improvement in mental and physical health.

The sessions are free to men living in the Breckland area and run on Thursdays from 1-3pm. Postcards advertising the sessions are also available. For further details, please contact David Farmer .

Research suggests that many adult men face particular challenges that can lead to mental health problems and also make it more difficult for them to seek appropriate help. The Breckland Creative Change programme offers free of charge creative activities to provide a positive course of action to reduce mild stress, anxiety and depression and to promote general wellbeing.

There are five artists involved in the project covering a broad range of practices from digital animation and creative writing to the more traditional drawing and sculpture and tailoring the sessions to the need of the individual.
