Jersey Farm in 1975
The shell of the farm house just before it was demolished
These photographs were taken on Sunday 25th November 1975 and are courtesy of Maureen Phillips. Apologies for the quality - they are scans of old prints.

They show the wreck of the farm house. The damage was probably done to the disused house by local kids, or possibly vagrants. At the time there was some suspicion (allegedly) that the developers may have had a hand in it. In any case, nothing is left of the old farm house.

The actual farm house was sited approximately on the far side of the Jersey Farm shops car park, just before you turn right to the exit. The shops are where the farmyard was, and the the shop buildings were intended to echo the farmyard in their barnlike appearence.

If you walk down Twyford Road from the shops end you will see a hedge on the left, this bordered the farm's orchard. On the footpath at the end of Twyford Road the hedge continues, then if you turn left and walk up to Jersey Lane, turn left again and you will see the hedge is on a bank, this is the other side of the orchard.
